Admissions Policy

St. Thomas the Apostle School does not discriminate against any race, creed, color, or nationality.  Our facility is one story and is wheelchair accessible.

Application for Admission

Families wishing their children to attend St. Thomas the Apostle School may register for the new school year during the month of February of the previous school year.  The School Principal arrives at the exact dates.  State of Delaware regulations regarding the required age of the child must be followed.  New students are to be tested on their particular grade level and Child Find testing must be done for students of the Kindergarten and First Grade levels when necessary.  A minimum testing fee is charged at the time of registration

Also at the time of registration, copies of important information relative to each new student are collected:  baptismal certificate, birth certificate, social security number, pertinent health records and prior school records that have been accumulated.  If these records are not in the possession of the parent and/or guardian, a Release of Record form is to be signed by the parent and/or guardian at this time.

Student registration is also taken whenever the occasion arises throughout the school year.  The above mentioned process for registration is to be followed.

Student Acceptance & Formal Registration

St. Thomas the Apostle School follows Diocese of Wilmington procedures for accepting students.  After the student is tested and has completed other evaluative processes, a formal acceptance letter is sent to the parent or guardian.  A student may be placed on a waiting list if more children applied than available openings for that particular grade.  If the parent or guardian accepts the invitation to formally register their child as a student, they are required to complete the Diocese Registration Form and sign a financial contract which details tuition costs and any fees that may be charged for books, supplies, or services.
